About My Life as a Writer
I have spent much of my adult life as a teacher, coach, principal, and superintendent of schools in Maine. I loved raising three children on a small farm in Jefferson, Maine, especially watching them chase chickens or drive our clunky old tractor through the back fields.
Like several of the characters in Whitewater Opera, I am passionate about two things—fly fishing and educating children. I have been an elementary principal on the Massachusetts North Shore for almost ten years and have been in education for over 40. My wife Anne and I share time between our two favorite spots—Damariscotta Lake in Jefferson, Maine and on the Ipswich River on the North Shore where we boat, fly fish for stripers, and watch the lobstermen haul their traps.
